THE BUSINESS OF AVIATION

AROUND THE SKIES

My former boss, fellow Naval Academy alumnus and now U.S. Senate candidate, Tim Sheehy, has resigned as CEO of Bridger Aerospace, the aerial firefighting company he founded in 2014. The announcement highlighted Sheehy's decision to step down to focus on his Senate campaign and allow the company's leadership team to operate effectively during the busy fire season. I’d like to personally add that Tim is a fantastic leader and has done more for aviation, the state of Montana and the American way of life, than most people will ever know. I’m proud to have flown with him over Big Sky country and wish him success in the upcoming election.

The Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport, along with the Aviation Museum of Kentucky, is bringing back its wildly popular Summer Aviation Camp from July 8-11. Kids and adults alike can get their heads in the clouds with flight simulations, real airplane flights and a field trip to the Aviation Heritage Park.

Southwest Airlines added Rakesh Gangwal, the former CEO of US Airways, to its board of directors. This move comes after investors pressured the company to change its leadership.

16 Texas pilots were recently honored with the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award at the West Houston Airport. This prestigious award, presented by the FAA and the Houston chapter of the Ninety-Nines, recognizes pilots with over 50 years of accident-free flying. These pilots, with diverse backgrounds ranging from private to airline pilots, have contributed significantly to aviation with a combined total of more than 800 years of flying experience 😮

PilotTube

In the heart of Alaska, where the wild stretches far beyond the reach of the ordinary, lies a testament to endurance, courage and the unbreakable bond between human and dog. This is the Iditarod, the world’s most famous sled dog race, tracing a century-old route between Anchorage and Nome that pays homage to the 1925 serum run, a life-saving mission against all odds.
